Welcome to Seggau Castle – the ideal location for an unforgettable christening ceremony!
Nestled in the picturesque landscape of southern Styria, our castle offers a unique and festive backdrop for this special event in your child’s life.
Our old walls combine historical elegance with natural beauty. High up on the Seggauberg with a fantastic view over Leibnitz and the breathtaking landscape of the South Styrian hills, lies the hotel with its beautiful chapels, the cosy castle tavern and the unique castle grounds.
Our chapels for a festive naming ceremony
The baroque castle chapel or the modern St Michael’s Chapel are official christening venues and offer opportunities to organise the ceremony entirely according to your wishes. Whether you are planning an intimate ceremony in a small circle or a large celebration with many guests, you will find the perfect setting with us. Our castle deacon Peter Weinhappl will also be happy to assist you by prior arrangement. Our nuns take care of the sacristan service. Family members are also welcome to accompany the ceremony as altar servers.
After the christening, you are welcome to use our beautiful rose garden as a backdrop for your family photos. We are also happy to offer you an aperitif after the naming ceremony. Depending on the size of the group, we can organise this in the cosy castle tavern or in our beautiful berry orchard. We invite you to dine in our individually decorated dining room.
Our chapels
You can choose between two different chapels for your celebration at Seggau Castle.
The baroque castle chapel, a Marian chapel in the upper castle, offers space for 50 – 60 people. It is also known as the Bishop’s Chapel, as it once served as the private worship room of the Bishop of Seckau. It captivates with its historical charm and the beautiful baroque altar.
Alternatively, our beautiful and bright St Michael’s Chapel offers a fantastic backdrop in a modern style. It is located in the Brennerhof and is suitable for 60 – 70 guests. As soon as you enter the chapel, you will be overwhelmed by a unique play of colour and light. The large and colourful stained glass windows transform the room into a place of well-being and joie de vivre, even in cloudy weather.
The festive table for your celebration
Celebrate your child’s christening in a festive atmosphere at Seggau Castle. After the festive ceremony, we invite you and your guests to a sumptuous banquet in our stylish Dining Room II.
Together with you, we will put together a customised menu that perfectly suits your celebration. Whether starter, main course or dessert – every dish is prepared with love and detail using high-quality ingredients. You can choose between traditional or sophisticated cuisine and enjoy regional specialities from our castle kitchen. Crown your feast with a delicious dessert. Choose from our selection or bring your own personalised cake.
To ensure that your christened child is completely comfortable, there is a changing table in the toilet between the castle tavern and dining room II and a breastfeeding room, seminar room, at your disposal.
